Step 2 – The Agreement

The Agreement is where it gets interesting.  A more in-depth inspection from a contractor should determine if the affects of the storm are worth a claim. You agree that there is damage. You agree that it’s significant enough to file a claim. You and the contractor then must agree on terms.

Determine Affects of the Storm and Agree on Damage

Most contractors will offer free home inspections following a storm. If you have any doubt about that, just click here. LOTS of options. A contractor that is familiar with storm damage repairs will know exactly where to look. Within a few minutes a restoration contractor should be able to explain the extent of damage, and how it will affect your property in the short and long term. At this point, you must agree or disagree with the assessment. Should you agree, you now need to decide if the damage is worth a claim.

There’s a lot of details you need to figure out before you call your Insurance Company. Consider the cost of repairs and know your deductible. If you decide it’s still worth a claim after paying your deductible, go ahead and file!

Terms with Your Contractor

The ball is totally in your court here. Every contractor works for different terms. Depending on your ability to sell, you may be able to negotiate better terms. Essentially, at the end of the day, you need to come to the right terms with the right contractor. Our aim is to point you in the right direction, with regard to contractor selection. Get the right contractor for the right job. Cover the basics. Is this contractor knowledgeable enough to get the job done right? Can he do it for the right Price?
